If you want to enable Automatic Windows Updates instead of Manual Windows Updates you can perform the following actions:
- Click the Start button
- Type "command"
- Right-click "Command Prompt" and select "Run as administrator"
A new dialog appears. Type "sconfig" at the prompt and press enter.
After "sconfig" has been launched you notice the "Manual" next to option 5.
When you enter option "5" you can change the Windows Update method to "Automatic" by typing "A" at the prompt.
Press enter to confirm. "sconfig" will change the method and show you a confirmation dialog. Click "OK".
To exit "sconfig" type "15" and enter.
To exit "Command Prompt" type "exit" and enter.
When Automatic Updates are enabled, Windows will reboot your workstation when updates have been installed. You can the time window of these updates and reboots with the following actions:
- Click the Start button
- Type "windows update"
- Click "Windows Update settings"
A new dialog appears. Click "Change active hours"
Change the time window and click Save.
